Face of the Day

So, yesterday I was set to work at 9 am and took way too long in the shower so I didn't have a time to do a damn thing to my face despite having plans of going to town after I got off work. I threw a couple things into my makeup bag and ran out the door, wet hair and all. While I was on a break I did my make up. It took about 15 minutes, if that. I snapped a picture just to show but it's from my phone and actually quite poor quality but, you'll get the idea.

Just a really simple blue, slightly smokey eye. I had a touch of blue on my lower lashes too but you can't see that in the picture, obviously. Please ignore the state of my hair and eyebrows, they both need sorting desperately. I also have no idea why my nose looks shiny. It didn't in the mirror! haha

Products used:

  • Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions foundation (01 fresh alabaster)
  • ELF Studio Line blush (Twinkle Pink)
  • Avon Colour Play eyeliner (black)
  • Essence Eye Shadow quad. I actually don't know what the quad is even called, the name rubbed off but it was just three browns and a blue. I just used the light brown that was close to my skin tone.
  • Urban Decay Eye Shadow (Flipside)
  • Essence Gel liner (black)
  • Clinique High Impact mascara
I can do a tutorial of this if you guys like, just ask! :) I also have a haul from the other day I'm going to be putting up soon.

Lots of love,
Katie xo

What's In Your Makeup Bag??

So, I saw this Blog Hop on bloglovetherapy and decided I would give it a go!

This is just the stuff I always use and keep with me in my hand bag if I'm going to be out all day. I have other products that I use on a less regular basis. (eye shadows, lip glosses, powders etc)

  1. Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Foundation in 01 Fresh Alabaster I love this. It gives me the perfect amount of coverage without being cakey and it has a bunch of other goodness in it that makes it more like a treatment than just a foundation. Also, I'm so pale that finding a foundation that matches my skin is like pulling teeth. Everything else always looked too orange even in the fairest shades.
  2. Mac Brush 212 I use it for eyeliner even though that's not what you're meant to use it for as my younger sister constantly reminds me. I like the thicker line it gives me because I'm essentially too lazy to use my eyeliner brush as it's really thin.
  3. ELF Studio Line Blush in Twinkle Pink. Lovely peachy pink with loads of golden sparkle. I really like this. Then again, I'm not a blusher person really as my cheeks are really rosey naturally. The sparkle looks crazy in the pan but on it really is subtle.
  4. Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers This smells fab and leaves a subtle red tint behind. I have about 3 of them at this stage. I keep misplacing them and then finding them again! I don't think that I've ever used a full one, I loose them too often.
  5. Clinique High Impact Mascara I only have this in the sample size but I think I may buy the full sized when this runs out. Gives really good length to my lashes which is something I really look for in my mascara.
  6. Avon Colour Trend Pencil Play Eyeliner in Black Really great texture and colour payoff. I use it for my waterline and tight lining my upper lid and I adore it for that. If I use it on my lid I find it doesn't give me a nice solid line. I've had this stick for over a year too and it's still not even half used.
  7. ELF Studio Line Flat Topped Powder Brush I swear I could happily use about 3 of these in my makeup routine. I sometimes use it to buff my foundation if I feel it looks thick in some places and I always use it for my blush. Really, really great brush. I find myself reaching for this over some of my Macs.
  8. Essence Gel Eyeliner in 01 Midnight in Paris Super creamy and just glides on. I bought this months ago after being fed up of my pencil eyeliner sticking to my upper lid and it's still going strong so really great value. I can't see myself spending the €20 on Mac's Fluidline when I have this for less than a fiver. It does exactly what I need; give a crisp, long lasting, super black line.
  9. ELF Studio Line Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter in Fair This is OK. I have terrible dark circles and have to use a couple layers of this to dull them enough so I don't look like a panda. I never use the highlight because it's cream/liquid and I prefer powders so I can't comment on it. I use it because it's what I have and I can work with it as it isn't horrible but, I probably won't repurchase even though it was only a few bob.
There you go! A run down on my makeup bag with little Mini Reviews on all the things. Anyone use these products? Anything I should try out to replace what I have? Let me know! :)

Love, Katie xoxo

PS- Any follows and I'll be sure to follow back!

My first post

Exciting stuff, right? Well, it may not be for you but it is for me!

I've been toying with the idea of starting a blog to chronicle all my beauty adventures for a while and today I decided to finally bite the bullet and do it. (Surely there's a more beauty-centric way to say that? Grit my teeth and pull the wax strip? I don't know. Leave it with me.)

For my first post I suppose I will just introduce myself a tad-
  • Name: Katie (although friends and family call me Katiekins, Katiebuns, Kate, Kates etc etc)
  • Age: 20
  • What do you do? Right now, I nanny four days a week for two little boys who are completely and utterly the cutest things ever. Although, I'm hopefully going to University in September to study wildlife biology.
  • Favourite colour: Black. I never quite grew out of my "goth" phase and heavy lines of black liner are still my biggest beauty sin. Plus, it goes with everything!
  • Biggest beauty vice: Nail polish, with out a doubt. It's just so colourful and makes me inexplicably happy to open up a new bottle. I think a lot of #ManiMondays and #NOTDs will be going up here.
I really do have no idea what I'm doing here so bear with me while I'm figuring all this stuff out. How hard could it be though, really?

Much Love,
Katie
